SHILLONG, JUL 7: Exuding confidence ahead of the 2028 Assembly polls, senior BJP leader and Pynthorumkhrah MLA AL Hek on Tuesday said the party is aiming to form its own government in Meghalaya and will contest the elections without any pre-poll tie-ups.
Addressing reporters, Hek claimed the BJP is on course to lead the next government in the state.
“Believe me, in 2028 it will be a BJP-led government in Meghalaya. That is very clear. The national leadership will decide who the leader will be, but I am telling you again that in 2028 it will be a BJP-led government in Meghalaya,” he said.
The veteran leader also made it clear that the BJP has no plans to enter into electoral arrangements with other parties.
“We will go alone. There will be no pre-poll alliance with any political party,” Hek stated.
On questions regarding a possible reshuffle in the state unit, including a change of the party president before 2028, he said such decisions rest entirely with the central leadership.
“That will depend on the national leadership’s decision. I will not be able to comment on any decision taken at the national level,” he added.
