SHILLONG, SEPT 11: BSF Director General Praveen Kumar on Friday briefed Governor CH Vijayashankar on security measures along India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya and Assam.
Kumar called on Vijayashankar at Lok Bhavan, where IG Frontier Headquarters BSF Meghalaya O P Upadhyay and Additional Chief Secretary to Governor H C Chaudhary were present.
“DG BSF briefed Governor on various measures and actions being taken by BSF for protection and security of India-Bangladesh border shared by Meghalaya and Assam,” a Raj Bhavan communique said.
The communique said discussions covered role of BSF in maintaining effective border security and addressing challenges along international border.
Governor appreciated BSF role in securing border and assured state support.
“Governor appreciated efforts of BSF in safeguarding international border and assured full support and cooperation of State Government in strengthening border protection,” it said.
The meeting underlined need for close coordination between BSF and state government for effective border management and security of region.
