SHILLONG, JUNE 11: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) has condemned the killing of six Naga men from Konsakhul Naga Village in Manipur, calling it a “baric, inhumane and cold-blooded” act.
The bodies, found dismembered on June 10, 2026, belonged to men abducted from Leilon Vaiphei Village on May 13, 2026. In a statement issued Thursday, NESO said reports that the victims were tortured before being murdered and mutilated reflected an inhumanity that is “beyond comprehension”.
The apex student body, which includes AASU, KSU, GSU, AAPSU, NSF, AMSU, MZP and TSF, said the brutality has shocked the entire Northeast and highlighted the worsening situation in Manipur.
NESO conveyed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Konsakhul Naga Village, asserting that it stands in solidarity with those who lost their loved ones in such a cruel manner.
The organisation demanded a swift, transparent and impartial investigation and insisted that all those involved must be identified, arrested and prosecuted without delay, regardless of their background or status. It cautioned that inaction would only encourage further violence without consequences. The student body pointed out that for three years it has been urging peace, dialogue and restoration of normalcy in Manipur, and has repeatedly called on authorities to protect civilians and end the cycle of violence. Despite these appeals and the presence of thousands of Central Security Forces in the state, NESO said the conflict and atrocities continue.
Raising serious questions, NESO asked the Government of India how, after more than three years of conflict and heavy deployment of security forces, no one has been effectively convicted for the repeated killings, abductions and arson. The organisation also voiced concern over allegations of partisan behavior by Central Forces, stating that any complicity, negligence or bias by forces meant to protect civilians amounts to a betrayal of public trust and must face strict legal and disciplinary action.
NESO reiterated that justice, accountability and equal protection for all communities are the only path to lasting peace. It urged the Centre to take decisive steps to restore public confidence, guarantee citizens’ safety and end the culture of impunity that continues to drive violence in Manipur. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice and human dignity and said it stands firmly with the people of Konsakhul Naga Village and all innocent victims of the conflict across the Northeast.
