SHILLONG, SEPT 4: The All Meghalaya Muster Roll Progressive Workers Union (AMMRPWU) has reorganised its leadership and decided to intensify its push for implementation of pending benefits.
Informing this, General Secretary Bympher Lyndem said the union has elected Erwin K Syiem Sutnga as its Adviser, while KL Pariat will continue as Adviser of the JAC.
He said after the reshuffle of office bearers, the union will follow up on its demands submitted to various departments.
“We have got some of the demands that we placed before the Government,” Lyndem said, but noted that execution on the ground remains patchy.
Highlighting EPF as a major issue, he said the government has issued orders but departments are yet to act uniformly.
“We have faced a lot of difficulties, especially on EPF. Now the order for implementation has come. Some departments have implemented it and some have not. We will continue to follow up,” Lyndem said.
On maternity leave for muster roll workers, he said implementation is also uneven and the union will keep pursuing the matter.
Lyndem also lauded the Veterinary Department for converting muster roll posts to Group D.
“We thank the Veterinary Department which has implemented this where all 8 muster roll workers have got jobs. We hope other departments will also implement it,” he said, adding the union will continue to assess other gaps.
