SHILLONG, JUL 16: NEIGRIHMS’ Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Shillong Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society jointly held the AOGIN-India Interim CME at NEIGRIHMS on July 11, 2026.
The day-long event drew around 120 participants — gynaecologists, PG trainees, district medical officers from Meghalaya and delegates from other NE states.
Focus areas included early detection, prevention and recent updates in managing gynaecological cancers, with special sessions on HPV-related cancers and vaccination. Interactive talks were followed by hands-on workshops on surgical and diagnostic techniques.
Padma Shri Dr Neerja Bhatla, keynote speaker and cervical cancer advocate, outlined strategies for prevention and elimination.
Inaugurating the CME, NEIGRIHMS Director Prof (Dr) Nalin Mehta said such programs help bridge the gap between screening and early treatment.
