SHILLONG, AUG 19: UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh on Wednesday said the party is listening to concerns raised by its MLAs and has platforms to resolve differences, while denying any knowledge of reports that some legislators are planning to join the BJP.
After a CEC meeting, Lyngdoh said dissent is normal in any party and is dealt with through discussion.
“In any family, in any party, there are always differences of views, differences of opinions, differences of thought process. And we always ensure that we listen to all of that and address the issues accordingly,” he said.
“We always provide the platform where we can discuss, share and sort it out,” he added.
On the alleged merger, Lyngdoh said he had no information.
“I have no idea about that. I would like to ask from you, who are they, what are the names? Then only I will clarify. I don’t know anything about it,” he said.
Asked about the recent Delhi visit by UDP MLAs, he cited a statement by Lahkmen Rymbui and said the meeting with the Home Minister was primarily on FCRA, and other state-related concerns were also raised.
Lyngdoh said the CEC mainly discussed ways to strengthen the party and take its strategy to the grassroots.
