SHILLONG, JUL 24: BJP Meghalaya on Friday denounced sloganeering targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Khyndailad in Shillong, saying such personal attacks have no place in democratic protest.
According to the party, a video circulated by an online platform showed a group of non-tribal youth raising derogatory slogans against the Prime Minister at the busy rotary.
The party said the timing of the slogans was inappropriate, given that the Central Government was already in dialogue with protesting youth in Delhi and had arrived at an amicable resolution.
“The personal slogans were totally uncalled for as the Government was reaching out to the protesting youth in Delhi and has finally reached an amicable solution with them,” the BJP stated.
The party urged citizens to maintain decorum in public demonstrations and to express dissent without resorting to personal abuse.
