SHILLONG, FEB 10: A 40 year old woman Anna Khongwar sustained burn injuries when two of her acquaintances, who are yet to be named, set her on fire on Sunday in a jungle in Madanrting. Luckily she was saved when she was spotted by milkmen from the nearby village who rushed her to the Shillong Civil hospital.
East Khasi hills Superintendent of Police (city) Vivek Syiem informed that Anna Khongwar, a resident of 3rd mile, was set on fire by two of her known acquaintances and the police will take the statement of the victim the moment she is discharged from the hospital.
Khongwar received 20 percent burn injuries mostly in her hands and legs and is undergoing treatment and is out of danger.
According to the Syiem, Khongwar had gone to the jungle near ARC Firing Range, Madanrting with four other known acquaintances for recreational purposes. The two miscreants, he said, who set Khongwar on fire were from the same group.
Syiem said, “We are just waiting for her to be discharge so that she can identify these men, this case will be resolved in a swift manner.” – By Our Reporter
