SHILLONG, APR 14: The National People’s Party (NPP) will soon field a candidate in the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha byelection.
“From the party side, we have decided to field the candidate for the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha byelection,” party state president and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Tuesday.
When asked about the probable candidate, Tynsong said, “We will let you know.”
He added that the party has several potential candidates being considered, but the final decision will be made by the election committee.
Regarding the Rajya Sabha nomination, Tynsong said the party is yet to receive any nomination and is awaiting notification from the Election Commission and the office of the Speaker or Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
“We are yet to receive any nomination, so I can’t say right now. Let the notification come from the Election Commission as well as through the office of the Speaker or Chairman of the Rajya Sabha,” he said.
