SHILLONG, JUL 22: The VPP State Youth Wing on Tuesday condemned a social media post by BJP Youth Wing President Mewaker Lyngdoh Pakma, in which he allegedly called for “Shoot them! Tear gas ain’t enough!” against protesting students in Delhi.
In a statement, VPP-Youth Wing President Marbud Dkhar described the remark as “bloodthirsty” and “a hunger for power with bloodstain”.
“A leader who casually asks for student protesters to be shot has lost all moral right to lead the youth. This is not leadership — this is a dangerous display of fascist ideology where you want to gain power by shedding the blood of your own people,” Dkhar said.
The VPP Youth Wing said calling for the use of UAPA, sedition laws and bullets against unarmed civilians shows “democracy is dead and only dictatorship matters” for those making such remarks.
“In a democracy, you answer protest with dialogue, accountability and a transparent system — not with bullets,” the statement said.
The party warned that leaders with such views coming to power in Meghalaya would bring “chaos, violence and deep division”.
“The youth of Meghalaya wants clean governance, accountability and transparency in the system — not leaders who dream of shooting us down when we ask questions,” Dkhar said.
The VPP Youth Wing demanded immediate and strict action against the BJP leader.
It said if the BJP fails to act, “it proves that this is not his personal view, but the party’s official policy”.
It further stated that the use of police force is “strictly regulated by law” and cannot be dictated by “a political goon on Instagram status”.
“We, the VPP State Youth Wing, reject this politics of police brutality, bullets and bloodstain. Meghalaya says no to BJP’s ‘Goli Maaro’ and divisive politics,” the statement concluded.
