SHILLONG, AUG 20: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Thursday said the violence during the KSU bike rally was unfortunate and cannot be tolerated, while appealing for peace.
“The door of the government is always open for talks,” Dhar said, urging the KSU and other organizations to maintain peace.
On KSU’s demands, he said, “We have seen their demands. Let them come for talks, we are ready.”
He said the government will take up the matter once Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma returns, adding there will be no delay in inviting them for dialogue.
On possible repercussions in Assam, Dhar said both governments are in touch at the CM and Home Minister level and the situation will be normalized soon.
He said KSU had given an undertaking for a peaceful rally and the government will examine the matter.
