Conrad, Himanta discuss aftermath of Aug 19 violence

SHILLONG, AUG 20: A day after the violence during the KSU rally in Shillong, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said he has spoken to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to defuse tension affecting commuters of both states.

In a post on X, Sangma said the two sides have agreed to work together to normalise the situation and that Cabinet Ministers from both states will meet to restore peace, trust and normalcy.

He appealed to citizens of both states to maintain peace, harmony and restraint, saying Meghalaya and Assam share deep bonds that must be protected.
