SHILLONG, OCT 31: The United Democratic Party (UDP) today announced its second list of 16 candidates for the upcoming 2019 elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
After the state election committee (SEC) meeting held here on Wednesday, UDP vice president Allantry F Dkhar told reporters that out of sixteen, nine candidates are from Jaintia Hills region and seven candidates from Khasi Hills region.
Earlier, the party had in its first list declared as many as 17 candidates which all were from Khasi Hills region.
Asked, Dkhar said that another 12 candidates in Khasi Hills and 20 in Jaintia Hills which are yet to be declared by the party.
“We have advised the district units to complete the exercise of selecting candidates for the remaining seats before November 30 in order to give ample time to the candidates to fully campaign,” he informed.
According to him, a sub-committee was also formed to clear the names of candidates as and when the exercise is completed.
Meanwhile, the candidates cleared by the SEC from West and East Jaintia Hills include sitting MDC Lamdibok Sumer from War East, Kitboklang Nongtdu – Jowai Central, B Iano – Raliang, Eleazer C Dkhar – Mookaiaw, Suklang Shylla – Nongjngi, Emlangki Lamare – Narpuh, Shanbor Lamare – Sutnga-Nongkhlieh, Sanki Shangpung – Bataw-Lakadong, and Laski Rymbai – Tuber.
In Khasi Hills, the candidates are sitting MDC Neil Antonio War from Malki-Laitumkhrah, Nasar Marwein – Langrin, Anbil Lyngdoh – Mawkyrwat, Kris Kharsati – Sohryngkham, Philemon Kharmyndai – Sohiong-Nongspung and Ryngkat Lyndem – Langkyrdem-Laitkroh.
