Tura shines in science, Shillong dominates arts & commerce stream in HSSLC 2026

SHILLONG, MAY 4: The Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) results were announced by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) on Monday, with students from Tura and Shillong sweeping the top ranks across all three major streams.
Don Bosco College, Tura claimed the science stream top spot through Dechro M Marak, who scored 472 marks.
St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong took the next two positions — Amos Chinminlun with 470 marks and Vishal Rai of Laban Bengalee Boy’s Higher Secondary School with 464 marks.
Science saw 3,732 candidates appear in 70 centres, and 3,124 passed, taking the success rate to 83.70%. South West Garo Hills achieved a perfect 100% pass record.
Arts had the highest number of candidates and a strong 88.63% pass rate.
St Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong student Meghashree Roy topped the stream with 457 marks.
St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School followed with Joziah Daman Laloo at 452 marks and Nakisakahuni M Pakyntein at 446 marks.
Out of 23,559 candidates across 113 centres, 20,882 were successful.
East Khasi Hills and Eastern West Khasi Hills led district-wise with 96.20%.
Commerce was topped by Priya Ghosh of St Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong with 458 marks.
St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School students Ankita Das and Rishika Debnath took second and third with 453 and 452 marks.
The stream posted 87.49% pass rate — 2,155 out of 2,463 candidates cleared it in 58 centres.
East Jaintia Hills topped district performance at 98.18%.
Vocational courses saw 20 of 21 students pass, marking a 95.23% success rate.
