SHILLONG, JAN 10: Meghalaya has registered a total of over 18.30 lakh voters as per the final electoral roll of the state published here on Wednesday.
State’s chief electoral officer Frederick Roy Kharkongor informed that the names of 18, 30, 104 registered voters were included in the final electoral roll of the state.
Female voters in the state outnumbered their male counterparts by over 17,000. While 9,23,848 are female voters and 90,62,256 are male voters.
It may be mentioned here that in 2013, the total number of electorate in the state was 15,02,509.
“This represents an increase of 3, 27,595 voters (21.8%),” Kharkongor said.
The chief electoral officer informed that the number of polling stations has also increased from 2,485 in 2013 to 3082 this year, which is an increase of about 24%.
There were 10,545 persons whose names were deleted from the roll and the new voter application forms of 6,645 persons were rejected, Kharkongor said.
Maximum inclusion is in Mawshynrut constituency with 2123 new voters and minimum inclusion was in West Shillong constituency.
