SHILLONG, OCT 17: For the first time in the history of National Wushu Championship, the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) team lifted overall Championship during 26th Senior National Wushu Championship held at Assam Rifles, Shillong.
The team consisted of 15 Taolou players and 11 Sanshou players alongwith two support staff and coach, out of these 26 players, 17 players are from Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong, which recruits soldiers from North East States thereby making this as the victory of North East India.
Based on maximum gold medals the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) team was adjudged as overall champions during 26 th Senior National Wushu Championship.
During grandeur ceremony the Governor of Meghalaya Ganga Prasad along with Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General Assam Rifles conferred the Championship trophy to Brigadier RK Gaikwad, Commandant Assam Regimental Centre, team Manager Lieutenant Colonel Sunil Gangal and Coach Sepoy Sunil Dutta.
The Assam Regimental Centre was given the responsibility to establish Army Wushu Node in 2004, since then the node has achieved laurels both at National and International level.
