SHILLONG, MAY 15: State Bank of India (SBI) deputy managing director (operations) PK Malhotra inaugurated the new premises of the Retail Assets and Small and Medium Enterprises City Credit Centre (RASMECCC) in Shillong branch at MG Road on Thursday.
The RASMECCC is a specialized loan processing, sanctioning and maintenance hub, which deals with the personal and SME loans of 21 city based branches, handling more than 20,000 loan accounts, including big branches like Shillong, Laitumkhrah, GS Road, Malki Garikhana, Bara Bazar and others.
The centralization of loan processing, sanctioning and maintenance enables the bank to give better customer service, besides the convenience of having multiple functions under one roof.
Branches are also relieved by having their processing, sanctioning, maintenance job shifted away from them, leaving them with more time to market the bank’s products and concentrate on business development.
During his inaugural speech, Malhotra lauded the efforts taken by state’s management of SBI. He said, “Such step to open the centre in this area is probably the right step.”
Malhotra also informed that the SBI has many more products to offer to the customers and is not just the house for loan or car loan. Stating that the Bank’s motto is – With You Always, he said, “Once you (customers) are with us, we (bank) are with you always.”
Urging the people to join the bank and make this new venture a success, Malhotra said, “SBI has something for everybody and there is no need for any of the customers to look beyond us.”
Earlier, the RASMECCC was located Demseiniong in the city.
According to the bank officials, the new location of the RASMECCC will definitely make it well connected with other parts of the city, and also will be of convenience for the customers.
The officials also informed that the bank’s sales and marketing hub, known as Multi Product Sales Team (MPST), will also be shifted to the same new location which will add to the convenience for the customers.
