SHILLONG, MAR 1: The Meghalaya State Commission for Women in collaboration with the Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, North Garo Hills, Resubelpara today organized a sensitization programme for parents on Personal Safety Education of children at SGSY Hall, Resubelpara. Smti Theilin Phanbuh, Chairperson, Meghalaya State Commission for Women and Members Iadalin Tariang, Rebina Subba and Annie Sohtun attended the programme.
The programme is being organized to mark the celebration of International Women’s Week which is being observed from 1st to 8th March under the theme “Press for Progress”.
Speaking on the occasion, Phanbuh spoke about personal safety education where parents were empowered with necessary knowledge and skills to educate their children and prevent them from sexual abuse. She urged them to seek help and report if any input of abuse occurs to the concern authorities so that prompt action may be taken against the abuser.
Resource persons from Faith Foundation, working on Child Sexual abuse interacted with the gathering on the issue. Also they were given activities to demonstrate their role as parents and share their experiences.
