SHILLONG, MAR 18: Opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) legislator Paul Lyngdoh on Friday expressed concern over the failure of the state government to fill up the vacancies of non-bonded nurses by delaying to declare the results.

In his reply, health minister AL Hek informed that based on a new reports alleging grace marks were granted for nurses post, a committee was constituted to enquire into issue. “Based on the finding of the committee, a decision to re-advertise the post was arrived in the interest of public service,” he said while informing there were 719 candidates against the 180 vacancies.
Not satisfied with the reply of the minister, Lyngdoh wondered how the matter was delayed due to a news report and also questioned as to how where these grace mark given.
On this, the minister said, “The departmental recruiting committee had granted the grace mark without taking the approval of the state government.”
When Lyngdoh asked about the penalty against the officials involved in the grace mark, Hek said that the government has initiated an inquiry. He also informed that as the chief minister had some other engagement, the meeting which was scheduled to be held this month had to be postponed till next month.
According to him, the chief minister will be holding the meeting to discuss the matter with the health, law and personnel department.-By Our Reporter
