SHILLONG, JUL 20: NPP national working president and former Dadenggre MLA James Pangsang Kongal Sangma was sworn in on Monday as Meghalaya’s sole representative in the Rajya Sabha.
Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath, which James took in Hindi.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma was present at Parliament to witness the ceremony.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister wrote: “Accompanied my brother Shri @JamesSangma1 during his oath taking ceremony as Hon’ble Rajya Sabha MP from Meghalaya. Wishing him Godspeed on his new role. May he be the voice of our people and continue to contribute meaningfully to our state and nation.”
The National People’s Party also welcomed the induction.
“Heartiest congratulations to James Pangsang K Sangma on taking the oath as the newly elected Rajya Sabha Member from Meghalaya,” the party stated.
“Wishing him strength, wisdom, and every success as he carries the voice and aspirations of the people of Meghalaya to the nation’s highest forum.”
James Sangma, who served as a minister in the previous state cabinet, was elected unopposed to the Upper House seat earlier last month.
