SHILLONG, JAN 7: The Archery Association of India (AAI) has announced a 16-member team consisting of the top national archers to represent the country in the 12th South Asian Games 2016, which will take place next month.
Selection trials were held on Tuesday and Wednesday with the list of those picked for the squad released on Thursday by AAI assistant secretary Gunjan Abrol.
All the major names of Indian archery are in the list, with Jayanta Talukdar, Binod Swansi, Tarundeep Rai and Gurucharan Besra making up the Recurve men’s team. Deepika Kumari, L Bombayla Devi, Madhu Vedwan and Laxmirani Majhi selected for the corresponding women’s event.
In the compound events, the men’s team comprises of Rajat Chauhan, Abhishek Verma, Manash Jyoti Changmai and C Srither, while P Lily Chanu, V Jyothi Surekha, Swati Dudhwal and Purvasha Sudhir Shende make up the women’s team.
Archery at the South Asian Games is scheduled to be held at first ground in Polo from February 2-9.-By Our Reporter
