SHILLONG, JUL 24: Meghalaya will initiate the process to fill over 700 vacant teacher posts in government lower primary schools, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui announced on Friday.
Rymbui said the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test was held today as part of the groundwork for the fresh recruitment drive.
“We have 700 plus teacher vacancies only in government lower primary schools. The recruitment will be out very soon,” he told reporters.
The minister also flagged pending appointments in aided institutions.
According to him, several aided schools have not carried out recruitment for years due to pending approvals.
“There are also some vacancies in the aided schools in which recruitment has not happened for the last few years. We will give permission on a case to case basis so recruitment will start in a few months time,” Rymbui said.
