SHILLONG, OCT 28: Meghalaya PHE, Soil & Water Conservation and Housing Minister Marcuise N Marak has assured government jobs for sportspersons who win medals.
Speaking at a felicitation programme for sports achievers of East Garo Hills at Williamnagar Circuit House on October 27, Marak said the state government is taking concrete steps to promote sports.
“The government is taking up steps to promote games and sports. Sports personnel who win medals in any event will be given jobs under the Direct Recruitment Policy,” Marak said, urging athletes to take responsibility and aim higher.
The programme was organised by the Officers’ Club of the District Administration to honour those who brought laurels to the district in different sporting events.
Deputy Commissioner RP Marak delivered the welcome address and appreciated the hard work of the district’s sportspersons.
SP Swapnil Vasantrao Pawar also addressed the gathering and encouraged the athletes to continue making the district proud.
