SHILLONG, OCT 5: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday rejected the call for a CBI inquiry into the police raid at Jaiaw on August 19.Responding to North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum’s demand, Tynsong said the state police can handle the matter.
“I think as of today we don’t need to go to CBI,” he said.
He conceded that there may have been lapses during the operation but said they are correctable.
“I explained to them that omission, commission may happen sometimes but this can be corrected, there is no doubt about it,” Tynsong said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said he has directed the DGP and Home department to strengthen coordination with local authorities in future.
“I have asked DGP, Home Police to further improve in reaching to all concerned authority whenever we plan to do anything where it is felt necessary,” he said.
“Ultimately, local authority is a partner and part and parcel of law and order which we need to maintain from time to time,” he added.
