SHILLONG, JUL 29: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said the state government has directed district administrations to step up enforcement to check reckless driving and frequent road accidents.
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said instructions have been issued to both Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police across districts to make extra efforts to ensure public safety.
“Instructions have been given by the government and the Home Department to the district administration, both the DCs and SPs, that they need to make extra efforts to ensure that the recklessness we see every day, every week, or every month does not happen,” Tynsong said.
He added that accident prevention largely depends on the day-to-day functioning of the district administration.
“It is ultimately the day-to-day functioning of the concerned district administration. I am very sure that with the extra efforts put in by the district administration, we will be able to curtail these kinds of accidents which happen very unfortunately,” he said.
