SHILLONG, AUG 18: Pasteur Institute, Shillong has become the first state-run health facility in Meghalaya to receive national accreditation for two key units — its Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory and Regional Blood Centre.
The lab has been accredited by NABL under ISO 15189:2022 for quality and competence in molecular diagnostics, including Real-Time PCR testing for TB and other mycobacteria. The certification is valid from July 27, 2026 to July 26, 2030.
The Regional Blood Centre has also secured NABH accreditation for meeting national standards in blood banking and transfusion services. It will remain valid from July 23, 2026 to July 22, 2029.
Officials said the achievement places the institute among select government labs in the region that meet global and national quality benchmarks. The accreditation is expected to improve diagnostic accuracy, strengthen patient safety, and build greater public trust in government healthcare services.
The Directorate of Health Services Medical Education & Research credited its leadership, doctors, technical staff and support personnel for meeting the stringent assessment requirements.
The dual recognition will also enable the institute to participate in national health programmes and research collaborations that require accredited testing standards.
