Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said that a decision in regards to the next round of border talks with Assam will be taken in a week’s time.
“So we are working on it and in about a week’s time I will let you know what will be the next level of talks and meets will have and maybe physical visits that we may do,” Sangma said.
The chief minister had also met Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently.
“I met Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati. We sat down we discuss it was a very unofficial meeting we had breakfast together and there was nothing much in detail on any official discussion but we had a very long chit chat about many issues including the border aspects,” he said while adding that due to many activities going on in the past few weeks and months, we could not make much visits this side.
On December 20, last year, the State government had extended the time for submission of reports by the three regional committees in regards to the remaining six areas of difference till December 31.
This was in pursuance with the decision of the Chief Minister’s level meeting on Assam-Meghalaya border issues held on September 30.
The unresolved areas include – Langpih in West Khasi Hills District; Borduar, Nongwah-Mawtamur, Deshdoomreah, Block-II in Ri Bhoi District; Block- I, Psiar – Khanduli in West Jaintia Hills District.
