SHILLONG, APR 28: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge home Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday said Meghalaya has taken up the issue of commodity transport disruptions in Garo Hills with Assam, and both states are working together to resolve it.
“Now we are taking it up with our counterpart from Assam and both state government of Assam and Meghalaya are working together and we will resolve this issue as some misunderstanding happened maybe from that side or even from this side,” Tynsong told reporters.
He said the two governments are coordinating to ensure movement of goods is not hampered.
“We work out and we make sure that no such activities or stoppage of transportation of commodities happens throughout the Garo Hills region,” he added.
The statement follows recent instances of transport disruptions along stretches bordering Assam and Garo Hills.
Tynsong indicated that the matter stemmed from a misunderstanding and would be settled through joint efforts.
