SHILLONG,APR 28: Forty years old Md Nilchand Ali allegedly committed suicide in a police lockup in West Garo hills district after he had allegedly murdered his wife and one-year-old daughter.
Explaining the sequence of events, police said on Saturday at around 2:30pm, Ali allegedly murdered his twenty-eight year old wife Nur Bano Bibi and one-year-old girl child at Namabhangarpur under Tikrikilla police station.
After the twin murders, police said Ali consumed poison and was shifted to the Tikrikilla primary health centre from where he was referred to Phulbari community health centre.
On Sunday evening, Ali was discharged from the Phulbari health centre and the police detained him at Bhogularbitha outpost under Tikrikilla police station. However, at around 9.30 pm he allegedly committed suicide by hanging inside the lockup. The matter is now under investigation.- By Our Reporter
