SHILLONG, MARCH 05: Shillong Lajong FC will open their Under-20 I-League campaign with an expected high-octane encounter against the Goan side, Churchill Brothers SC, at the JRD Tata Complex in Jamshedpur on Wednesday.
According press release issued by the club, Lajong had finished third in the 2012 edition. Lajong coach Gumpe Rime, who has been part of the senior team, expressed the confidence that his wards would fare well in the competition. “The boys are in a good mood and are fit and raring to go. They have been training very hard and I believe that they can deliver a good performance,” the release quoted the coach as saying.
The only worry for the coach is the 1 p.m. start. “My biggest concern is the heat factor as it is very hot during the day time,” he said. Lajong will play three out of its 4 matches at 1p.m. “It is important to start the campaign on a winning note and we need to have a positive approach to the game,” said the coach.
Shillong Lajong were victorious the last time the two teams met in 2012 , and tomorrow’s game promises to be very exciting considering the never-say-die attitude of the boys in Red, regardless of the oppositions stature and ranking. (By Our Reporter)
