SHILLONG, JUL 21: The NPP expects newly inducted Rajya Sabha member James P.K. Sangma to articulate Meghalaya’s long-pending demands in Parliament, party state working president Marcuise N. Marak said on Tuesday.
Speaking after Sangma’s oath-taking in the Upper House on Monday, Marak said the MP’s familiarity with state issues and communication skills would help.
“He knows our state very well and can express very well in Parliament. He doesn’t have any language problem — he speaks Hindi fluently and English also,” Marak said.
He said Parliament must be used to push issues affecting Meghalaya.
“There are lots of issues in our state that need to be addressed. Issues like ILP implementation, recognition of Khasi and Garo languages, and many other burning matters need to be taken up in Parliament,” he added.
