SHILLONG, JULY 27: The newly floated pro ILP group – Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) elected its first central executive committee (CEC) members at a meeting held recently.
The election of leaders of CEC was conducted by the selection committee constituted by the HYC’s adhoc committee headed by Donboklang Kharlyngdoh as convener and Rhembor G Saibon as secretary.
The top leaders of the HYC elected include, former general secretary of the KSU central body, Peter J Lawai as president, while Donboklang Kharlyngdoh, former president of KSU Mawlai as vice president and Robertjune Kharjarin as the general secretary. Kharjarin was a former general secretary of the KSU South West Khasi Hills and president KSU NEHU.
The other members include -Asst. General Secretary – Sanjied.K.Shangrit, Organizing Secretary – Nickson Dohling,
Publicity Secretary – Amberlight Marsharing, Education Secretary – Barister Nongsiej,
Socio-Cultural Secretary – Ibakordor Wahlang, Asst. Organizing Secretary – Issac.W.Bassaiamoit, Executive Member – Shemphang Kharsati, which all are former leaders of the KSU.
Meanwhile, the HYC also decided to appoint Anthony Kharbuli, the former president of the KSU as the council’s chief adviser.
It may be mentioned that the HYC was formed by over 200 former leaders of KSU on July 17, on the 179th death anniversary of the Khasi freedom fighter – U Tirot Sing Syiem,, and the issue of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) being one of its main agenda.- By Our Reporter
