SHILLONG, FEB 28: The proscribed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militant outfit has threatened to eliminate people who are extorting money in its name.
The threat followed after a woman, an employee at the Tura Municipal Board, challenged a person claiming to be GNLA militant and attempted to extorted money from her.
“We have not demanded any money from the lady in Tura Municipal board office. We will not spare anybody who misuses our name for their personal interest,” GNLA “Commander-in-Chief” Sohan D Shira said.
Shira also said the outfit is also trying to find out those who are misusing the GNLA’s name for extortion and threatening people of the region.
“I have ordered all our area commanders to look for those persons who are misusing our name and execute them at once and we will not spare them,” Shira stated in his statement.
Shira said the GNLA reiterate its commitment to eliminate those who are misusing GNLA’s name and warned that they will not be spared. He said, “We have set an example with the execution of Rutherford Marak’s and others for misusing our name and extorting people; same fate will met by those who demanded money from the lady of Tura Municipal Board.” – By Our Reporter
