TURA, JUNE 2: The crisis of salary payments to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) is continuing till now with the members of the opposition in the GHADC meeting employees on the issue of salaries. “We met the staff of the GHADC regarding their grievances with regard to the delay in the payment of salaries,” said a release by the Congress led opposition MDCs.
The MDC alleged that most of the staff found it extremely difficult to live a normal life in the absence of salaries that are now due for over nine months.
The opposition MDCs further assured that the grievances of the staff would be relayed to the Chief Minister of the state. They would also seek release of the funds due to the GHADC in advance for salaries.
The need for a new office building was also discussed in the meeting between the MDCs and staff of the Council. “The present building is very old and unsafe and thus the need for a new building. We will also discuss the matter with the CM”, the release added.-From Our Correspondent
