SHILLONG, JUL 28: The state on Wednesday recorded 8 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,048 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 4 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 2 from Ri Bhoi district and 1 each from West Jaintia Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.
He said the state also detected 541 new cases. These include 244 in East Khasi Hills, 45 Ri Bhoi, 21 West Jaintia Hills, 109 West Garo Hills, 62 West Khasi Hills, 13 East Jaintia Hills, 2 South West Garo Hills, 6 North Garo Hills, 6 South Garo Hills and 10 East Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 409 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 107 are from East Khasi Hills, 121 West Garo Hills, 25 West Jaintia Hills, 93 Ri Bhoi, 11 South West Khasi Hills, 20 West Khasi Hills, 15 North Garo Hills, 4 East Garo Hills, 4 South West Garo Hills, 9 South Garo Hills and 4 East Jaintia Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 63,014 COVID-19 cases out of which 5,456 are active cases, 56,510 recovered and 1,048 deaths.
With 2,065 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 925 cases and Ri Bhoi with 604 cases.
There are 580 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 407 West Khasi Hills, 336 South West Khasi Hills, 123 North Garo Hills, 114 East Garo Hills, 138 East Jaintia Hills, 75 South West Garo Hills and 89 South Garo Hills.
