SHILLONG, JUNE 3: Responding to the present social turmoil prevailing in East Garo hills and its district headquarters, the A’chik Baptist Krima XI has organised one day “Counseling and Spiritual Uplifting” program, especially for Class X students, in the district auditorium.
Around 750 students from 16 secondary schools attended the program and with PR Marak, additional deputy commissioner of East Garo Hills representing the district administration.
In the opening ceremony, Marak spoke to students and asked them to restrain themselves from different kinds of evil influences which he said is spreading like a wildfire in the district. He also advised the students not to misuse the cell phones and social media which easily misguides the youth especially the teenagers and adolescences.
Resource persons Rev JK Sangma, the executive secretary of the AB Krima XI, and Pastor Jimy Carter D. Sangma of Nengmandal Baptist Church took charge after Marak had spoken.
In his topic the “Youth and the Changing World” Rev. Sangma told the youth that most of the youngster of today are busy in internet, mobile phones and facebook as a result they lost their interest in study and secure less marks in their exams. He said with the help of free internet and facebook they could easily access undesirable portals, which according Rev. Sangma, are tools of Satan that he use to deceive the youth.
In the second session, Pastor Jimy Carter D. Sangma warned the participants to understand between good and evil and the biblical response to satanic worship. He quoted verses of the holy scripture as to how Satan deceive the people of this world causing them to commit murder, extortion, adultery, sex and other social evils.
HN Sangma, the president of the AB Krima XI, blessed the program and Pastor Dallim S. Sangma of Simsanggre Baptist Church chaired the function.- By Our Reporter
