SHILLONG, JUL 21: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday chaired a virtual review meeting with the Minister in-charge of General Administration Department and senior GAD officials to assess the status of Meghalaya Houses located in different parts of the country.
The meeting covered ongoing construction and expansion works, proposals for new facilities, and the functioning of existing Meghalaya Houses.
Projects in Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Vellore and Kolkata were discussed, with emphasis on upgrading infrastructure, improving services and enhancing operational efficiency.
Sangma took stock of the progress of each project, looked into implementation timelines and instructed officials to ensure timely completion without compromising on quality.
He said proper planning is important to meet the growing needs of people from Meghalaya who travel outside the state for work, education and medical treatment.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to strengthen the management of these facilities so they can better serve students, patients, government officials and other citizens.
He said Meghalaya Houses should function as well-managed, welcoming spaces that provide a “home away from home” for residents of the state.
Sangma further directed the department to closely monitor project execution and fast-track pending works to ensure that all proposed infrastructure is completed within the set deadlines.
