CID probes missing files

SHILLONG, JUNE 10: State Border Areas Development minister Prestone Tynsong informed the house on Tuesday that the state CID has commenced the investigation into the disappearance of government files relating to BAD schemes from the state secretariat.

“The FIR was filed on March 19 in Sardar police station and a case under section 380 IPC was registered and police are already on the job to investigate,” Tynsong said during the question hour in the assembly on Tuesday.

According to Tynsong, the reasons can be known only after the ongoing investigation is completed. He said the files are related to the implementation of the scheme on construction of a park at Syndai village in Jaintia hills adding however as these files are missing their precise contents are not known.

Raising a supplementary question, UDP legislator Paul Lyngdoh questioned whether the department has devised any system to prevent the files from going missing from the office.  In his reply, Tynsong informed, a system is already in place where records on receiving and dispatching of files are maintained.- By Our Reporter
