SHILLONG, JAN 16: Former home minister Roshan Warjri distributed 2480 bins on Friday morning to the residents of Jaiaw Dorbar Pyllun at the premises of the Seng Khasi School. The programme was organized by the Municipal Board and Urban Affairs department as part of the solid waste management project.
Distributing the bins, Warjri told the residents that if they want a change, first they have to be a change by lending support and cooperating with the project brought by the urban affairs department and the union government by working together.
Warjri Expressed her gratitude to the state and union government for bringing the solid waste management project to Meghalaya and appealed to the public to support to make this project a success.
Warjir said with increasing population these kind of project is important to keep the locality clean and also spread the message of cleanliness outside. She, however, reminded that it is important that the public, community participate which will usher in cleanliness and bring about overall development.
Warjri also told the resident that “Waste is money now” as she explained that the waste will be recycled into organic manure which will be use for plantation. She said she firmly believe that the project will not only help clean the city but also spill over to rural areas and become a major tourists attraction not only for inland tourist but tourist from all over the world.
Warjri also lamented that that when tourists comes to the state they see all the junk scattered all over the place especially Khyndailad and said it is a matter of shame.- By Our Reporter
