SHILLONG, OCT 9: Union Minister of State for Defence Subhash Ramrao Bhamre today said loan of Rs 9 crore out of Rs 4 lakh crore have been sanctioned since the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) two years ago.
Addressing at the inauguration of the Financial Inclusion and Mudra Promotion Camps held in Shillong here on Monday, Bhamre said out of Rs 9.30 crore, loan to women constitutes Rs 6.89 crore which is 76 per cent and loan to SC/ST/OBC is almost 55 per cent.
According to him, the scheme aims to finance income generating small businesses up to Rs 10 lakh and the purpose of this scheme is to create inclusive sustainable entrepreneurship in the country.
Stating that the PMMY is a flagship scheme which aims to provide formal access of financial facilities to small entrepreneurs and to create more self employment opportunities, he said that Mudra Promotion Campaign is also being organized in 50 locations across the country.
“This campaign is to promote awareness about the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and other financial schemes launched on April 8, 2015 with the main objective of funding the unfunded,” he added.
The union minister also informed that Pradhan Mandtri Yojana and Stand Up India are the two major schemes initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring about a massive transformation in the lives of millions of youths.
On the other hand, he said the Stand-Up India is another important scheme to encourage entrepreneurship by providing bank loan between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
Under this scheme, a total of 40,769 entrepreneurs have taken a total loan of Rs 8,757 crore, he said.
He further informed that loan of Rs 1091 crore was sanction to 5,827 entrepreneurs of SC category, Rs 346 crore to 1747 entrepreneurs of ST category and Rs 37,319 crore to 33,142 entrepreneurs of women category.
“This is the guiding principle of our prime minister “Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas”,” he said.
Similarly under the social security scheme, Bhamre said that there are three components Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti BimaYojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal pension yojana.
Under the Suraksha Bima Yojana, 11 crore people have been enrolled, in Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, more than 3.5 crore people have enrolled in which family of 71,000 people got benefited by insurance claims due to death and 67 lakh people got enrolled under the Atal Pension Yojana, he said.
The union minister of state also urged all the people to take advantage of these schemes and also convey to their friends and families to come forward and take advantage of social security schemes for economic prosperity.
Meanwhile, Bhamre said that Government of India has launched national digital payment mission to encourage digital payment in which NPCI is assisting in this regard by providing digital payment mode.
“Digital mode is very easy and safe and I request all of you to adopt the digital payment method for making payments. As the country moves forward to cashless environment of demonetization let’s all unite to make India, a digital society,” he stated.
