As police register a murder case, husband goes missing

Shillong, August 28: Pappu Rai, the husband of late Pinky Rai, has gone missing even as the police have registered a case of murder. Police have directed Pappu Rai’s relatives, who are claiming that he has gone outside the state for puja, to call him immediately.

Even as the police is waiting for the post mortem report from the Shillong Civil hospital on the causes that led to Pinky Rai’s death, it has already began investigation into the case probing the murder angle.

The newly appointed East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang said that as the relative of Pinky Rai has complaint that she had been killed, the police have registered a murder case and started investigating.

Kharkhrang informed Oh! Meghalaya Tuesday that Pinky’s Rai husband Pappu Rai is not to be found in his residence and his relatives claim that he has gone out for puja. He said, “We have asked the relatives to inform him that he should come back immediately.”

The case has been registered in Madanrynthing police station. Initially Pappu Rai’s brother Shivnath Rai had filed an missing case FIR with the police and a day later has body was found but her one and half years old son had gone missing. The whereabouts of the kid is still not known.

When Pinky Rai’s brother Pankaj Rai arrived in Shillong from Bihar, he filed an FIR alleging foul-play and said he suspected that his sister was killed as her in-laws use to harass her for dowry.
