SHILLONG, OCT 8: NPP state president and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday asserted that the NPP remains united with all 33 MLAs intact, dismissing BJP MLA AL Hek’s claim that several NPP legislators want to switch to BJP.
“That is the view of Bah AL Hek but I don’t think Bah Hek is the state president of NPP, I am the state president of NPP. I think I know better than anybody else,” Tynsong said.
Rebutting Hek’s statement that NPP MLAs from Garo Hills are waiting to join BJP, Tynsong said, “Let me just tell you one thing we are united, all 33 elected MLAs of NPP is intact. I don’t know, as of now I don’t see any rift at all.”
Urging not to go by social media chatter, he said, “I don’t believe in comment, I believe in reality, so please when you ask me question ask the reality, don’t depend on this social media, that is not at all the gospel truth.”
Tynsong also downplayed Hek’s political standing to comment on NPP’s internal affairs.
“No, he is talking about his own party, I will not comment much about the statement made by AL Hek. Maybe if the state president BJP says something, then maybe I can comment something but Bah Hek, he is only MLA,” he said.
“So I think you please go and ask from Bah Hek and please go and reverify from the state president of BJP,” Tynsong added.
