SHILLONG, FEB 28: In a boost to Jaintia hills Congress that won 14 seats in district council election, seven of the nine Independent decided to form an alliance and stake claim in the 30-member Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
With seven independents, the Congress total strength will go up to 21 MDCs in JHADC.
“Seven out of nine Independent candidates have joined the party to form an alliance and for the new JHADC executive committee,” a senior Congress leader informed. He said, “The party along with independents will stake claim on Monday.”
Congress MDC from Nartiang-Umladang constituency Thombor Shiwat was unanimously elected as the CPP leader in the JHADC, the leader informed.
The seven Independents included who have decided to form an alliance with the Congress are Stephanson Mukhim from War-East, Het Pohthmi from War-West, Suklang Shylla from Nongjngi, Rudaioo Tang from Shilliang-Myntang, Ri-ioo Sten from Barato-Mukhroh, and Phasmon Dkhar from Musniang Rngat and Skhembok Suchiang from Muthlong-Sohkymphor constituency. –By Our Reporter
