SHILLONG, FEB 7: The State Youth Parliament 2019 was held here today at Old Guest House NEHU which was attended by Minister, Education etc, Government of Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Lahkmen Rymbui said that there are numerous challenges confronting the country and the youth being the future of the country cannot shy away from their responsibilities in nation building. He added that such forums give the youth a platform to participate and contribute towards nation building and stated that the topics chosen for the day are very relevant to the present scenario of the country. He hoped that the discussions and deliberations of the day will also enrich the policy makers.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India is conducting a National Youth Parliament 2019 for youth (18 to 25 years) from the 21st Jan 2019 to 28th Feb 2019. The district youth parliaments in the state were held on 28th Jan 19 and 15 best participants were shortlisted from the district youth parliament would be competing on the four given topics. The best two participants would go on to represent the State in the National Youth Parliament 2019.
Among others present during the Inaugural Session were Charles Pyngrope, MLA and Vice Chancellor, NEHU, Henry Lamin.
