SHILLONG, SEPT 7: Nineteen years old Senomen S Marak was found hanging himself inside the Baghmara police station lock up on Sunday morning. He had been arrested for allegedly stealing a bike and lodge in the police lockup.

A senior police officer informed that Marak committed suicide by hanging himself with a blanket tied to a ventilator.”
A resident of Rongtok village under the Shallang, Marak was caught by villagers from Joksongram when he went to the village to sell a stolen bike. The villagers handed him to the police on Saturday night along with the stolen bike.
A case against Marak was registered in Williamnagar police station.
The police officer informed that preliminary investigation revealed that the other inmate present inside the lock up tried to rescue Marak from hanging himself but failed. He said, “The other arrested person in the lock up had tried his best to save the deceased from hanging.”
The body was shifted to Baghmara hospital for post mortem after magistrate conducted inquest.- From Our Correspondent
