SHILLONG, FEB 1: As part of a month long campaign on Adolescent Health which also coincides with the completion of 5 years of Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) (National Adolescent Health Programme), the Office of the District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills today organised a Youth Festival under the theme: “The Future is here, Act now” at Mawlai Datbaki Indoor Stadium, Shillong.
The main objective of the festival is to create awareness about various interventions of the RKSK programme, namely, Reproductive and Sexual Health including HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse, Mental Health, Non-Communicable Diseases, Gender equality/violence and injuries and Nutrition.
During the day long programme, health officials delivered lectures on topics like Substance Abuse/HIV AIDS, Nutrition & WIFS, Adolescent Reproductive & Sexual Health (Teenage Pregnancy), Mental Health and Life Skills. Other programmes included a quiz and extempore speech competition on Adolescent Health, Skit demonstration on Adolescent Health Issues and Violence/Injuries.
