SHILLONG, OCT 8: The Anti-Ragging Cell of Shillong College on Friday organised an online awareness talk for the 1st students of Shillong College entitled “ Say ‘No’ to Ragging.”
In the welcome address the Vice Principal K.D.Roy stated that the College has maintained a very clear stance on zero-tolerance towards ragging. Dr. ( Mrs) E.Kharkongor, Principal said that the College, following UGC regulations and in accordance with Supreme Court order, has constituted an Anti-Ragging Cell to look into the welfare and safety of all the students of the college from various abuses tantamount to ragging.
The resource person, Nakilin G. Shylla, Advocate, deliberated on the topic and highlighted the need for the students to be aware of what constitutes ragging and what steps they could take to seek redressal.
Applauding the college for taking concrete steps to curb the menace of ragging in the institution and to conduct such programmes to sensitise the students about their rights and more importantly about their duties to act responsibly to safeguard the honour and integrity of their fellow students she also interacted with the students who posed questions to clarify their fears and doubts with the resource person.
