SHILLONG, FEB 25: Two days National Workshop on “Health Economics and Outcome Analysis” organized by the Department of Pharmacology, NEIGRIHMS came to a close on February 23. A good number of participants from Medical and Allied Fraternities from NEIGRIHMS and other establishments of North East attended the work shop. Renowned Pharmacologists, Pharmacists and Economist of the country like Dr Biswadeep Das (Assoc Prof & HoD, AIIMS Rishikesh); Mahendra Kumar Rai (IQVIA as a Head & SME); Dr Utpal Kumar De (Professor, Economics Deptt, NEHU); and faculty from NEIGRIHMS, shared their knowledge and expertise which correlated with the theme and objective of the workshop. Aim of the workshop was to educates the participants and create basic knowledge in providing the affordable healthcare to patients.
The Inaugural Function of this National Workshop was held at NEIGRIHMS Auditorium where the Dr. T. S. Nongkhlaw Director General of Health Services, graced this function as the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nongkhlaw said that with increasing demands and limited resources, Health Economics has lent a helping hand to facilitate decision making.
He said. “Understanding of the basic economic principles is essential for all Practitioners”. The Chief Guest released the Souvenir on the occasion. Prof (Dr) Noor Topno, Medical Superintendent, Acting I/c Director and Prof (Dr.) A. C Phukan, Dean Academics, NEIGRIHMS were the Guests of Honour.
During the two days workshop the resource persons deliberated upon solving decision making problems by applying various mathematical models. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the poster competition.
