SHILLONG, DEC 18: Three day Winter Youth Festival kick started amidst colourful and cultural extravaganza today at Dikki Bandi Stadium Tura which was organized by the District Administration, West Garo Hills, Tura in collaboration with Meghalaya Tourism and Tura Arts and Culture Society Tura.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Ram Singh congratulated the organisers for organising this festival and hopes that this festival would create a platform for the youth of the districts to showcase their talents and provide opportunities to display their creativity in various events organised during this three day winter festival. He further urged everyone to take active participation in the event being organised in this 3 day festival.
Sub-Divisional Officer, Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, Dadenggre, Swapnil Tembe spoke about the vast tourism potential prospect in the region and is also impressed with the good hospitality of the people in the area. He further invited everyone to come and explore the beautiful place and picnic spots in and around the Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division.
The Chief Guest also inaugurated and visited all the stalls put up by various line departments of the district and private units which will continue to exhibit and sell their products till the last day of the festival. The inaugural function was followed by photography contest and Retro Nite in the evening. There are events and activity corner for ethnic cuisines for the gourmets as well.
The main highlights of this cultural extravaganza on 19th December, 2017 will start with Marathon at 6:00 AM followed by Group Dance Competition, Housing Scheme Programme, Variety Show/ Tura Got Talent, Film Screening at Auditorium and Country Unplugged Nite in the evening while on 20th December, 2017 there will be Cyclothon at 6:00 AM which will be followed by Traditional Instrumental Contest, Karaoke Singing Contest, Futsal and conclude with Peace Concert.
