SHILLONG, JAN 16: The Government of Meghalaya has amended the Meghalaya Installation, Regulation, Maintenance and Operation of Weighbridge Rules, 2009 and shall be called the Meghalaya Installation, Regulation, Maintenance and Operation of Weighbridge (Amendment) Rules, 2017. This was informed by the Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Transport Department.
In amendment to Rule 3 of the Meghalaya Installation, Regulation, Maintenance and Operation of Weighbridge Rules, 2009, the Government may install and maintain by itself as many weighbridges as may be necessary, provided that the State Government may, if it so deems fit and proper, in the case of urgency, requisition any weighbridge for the purpose by paying adequate fees as would be determined by the Deputy Commissioner of the District concerned.
In amendment to Rule 4 (f) of the principal Rules, after the words “Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads)”, the word “or National Highway Authority of India” shall be added.
